I walk down a dark alleyway. The cold air makes tears well in my eyes. I shiver as the freezing breeze penetrates my clothing. I exhale and a cloud escapes mouth. I watch as it slowly disappears into the night. I walk through the deep snow, wishing for it to be over, for the cold to leave me be. I see the end of the alleyway and there is a bright, warm light greeting me with open arms. My heart starts to warm and to jump with joy. I quicken my pace. But alas, I give in and collapse on the snow. The cold has overpowered me. And I am left here, laying in the dark, in the snow, defeated and cold.
